About RNRTU

The RNRTU chapter is based in Salmon Idaho, home to the rugged country of central Idaho and the Frank Church Wilderness Area. The Salmon River is also called the River of No Return, a moniker bestowed by early pioneers. Historic wooden scows carrying miners and their equipment would travel down this untamed river only to be dismantled, never again returning to their place of origin.

This 425 miles long, free flowing river, is the second deepest canyon in North America and home to Sockeye salmon (endangered), Chinook salmon (threatened) and steelhead (threatened).  These are some of furthest inland migrating fish in the world, traveling up to 900 miles and 7,000 feet in elevation, to the remote headwaters of the Salmon River. Other resident fish include cutthroat trout, bull trout, rainbow trout, mountain white fish, smallmouth bass, suckers and sturgeon and pacific lamprey.
